The sea by the city
December 27, 2011, at 9.00 am
Piazza XIII Vittime, at the entrance of "Castello a Mare"
For centuries it has enchanted illustrious writers and travelers. Then for decades it remained hidden, denied from sight, erased from the imagination. Today Palermo sees the sea once again. A free tour to discover the city and its waterfront.

At three in the afternoon, with effort and hard work, we finally enter the port, where we are presented with the most charming of views... On the right Monte Pellegrino, with its elegant outline in full light, on the left the stretch of coast, broken by bays, peninsulas and promontories...
(Wolfgang Goethe, Journey in Sicily)
A tour guide and an actor will accompany you for a nice literary walk on the sites of the Sea of Palermo: Castello a Mare, the ancient port of Cala, Piazza Marina, the viewpoint from Porta Felice, the walls of the Cattive and the Nautoscopio. It is an invitation to look at the horizon through the eyes of Goethe, Maupassant and Tomasi di Lampedusa.
Palermo theater noir - The spectacle of death
December 31, 2011, at 9.00 am
Piazza Marina, at the entrance of "Palazzo Steri"
A descent into the underworld of history, in the days when the fires of the inquisition and hangings of the condemned were popular shows. Among the pages of novelists, the other grim and gloomy face of the city of Palermo is revealed. A free tourist itinerary to discover the dark face side of Palermo's history.

The auto da fe means the stake, Piazza Marina and the bustle of the big events: the authorities, the guards, the sellers of water and "Zammù", boiled octopus, candy and prickly pears...
(Dacia Maraini, The Long Life of the Silent Duchess)
From the prison of Palazzo Steri to the Vicaria, through the alleys of the old town, you will be accompanied by a guide and the voices of writers - Leonardo Sciascia, Dacia Maraini, Luigi Natoli - who described the atrocious and utterly theatrical horror of Justice.
